On Saturday, February 26, our Nashoba Ice team took a dip in the Atlantic Ocean. It was a cold and windy NE day, barely 20 degrees air temp! But that did not deter our devoted team from jumping into the frosty water. Thank you to the 4 committee members, 1 adult volunteer and 9 students (5 returning and 4 new), through their brave efforts NVSO raised over $4,600.
On Saturday, March 6, NVSO and the WA Swimming Snowmen took the Plunge and jumped into the Atlantic Ocean in support of Special Olympic Massachusetts (SOMA) and our local chapter, NVSO. WA high school senior Bridget Ryan formed team ‘WA Swimming Snowmen’ and together with NVSO they raised over $6,300.
March marked our third annual Special Evening fundraising event. Our thanks to all who came this event – it was another wonderful evening, dancing till midnight, live auctions, food, and great company. It shows what tremendous support there is amongst the local towns for Special Olympics. We raised over $6,000 for our programs.
Our fundraiser in March exceeded our expectations and thanks to the generosity of those who attended we raised over $22,000 to support future programs. Special thanks to Gail Borges who spoke so eloquently about how the Special Olympics programs have helped her daughter. Rob Scott for being the live auctioneer. The donors – on behalf of our athletes and their families, we are grateful for your continued support. We were also pleased to host a table for the Ronan McElligott Memorial Playground project at this event.
This was our major first fund raiser. The event sold out and our silent and live auctions were a tremendous success. We raised over $8,000 to support our programs. The dance floor was packed as the band Men in Black kept the beat going all night long. Our emcee and auctioneer was Doug Meehan, you may know him as the Fox25 Skyfox reporter.
