Once again we used the facilities of Nashoba High School in Berlin to hold our local events, and we took a team to the Massachusetts State Games in March.
We had fun practicing on Sunday mornings (weather permitting) at Nashoba High School in Bolton, MA during the months of January and February. Practices typically consisted of “warm-ups,” group and/or individual skills development drills, and then some scrimmages – followed by a “cool-down”, which always concluded with the “Hokey Pokey”. During these sessions, we also prepared our team (Nashoba Valley Falcons) for the MA state games which were held in Worcester, MA in early March. We performed well at the state tournament, and had fun playing together as a unified team, in the face of some tough competition. A closing ceremony for all basketball participants was held in mid-March at Rodenbush in Westford, MA, and each athlete was awarded a trophy. The Coaches and Organizers would like to sincerely thank our student partners and adult volunteers, who did a tremendous job helping guide and coach our athletes. We’d also like to thank the parents of our athletes, who are integral in getting the kids prepared and motivated each week.
A series of local events in January and February was followed by participation in the State Games in March. Our team, Nashoba Valley Falcons, earned the gold medal for their age group, winning all of their games. The athletes had a great time, and were given the medals by servicemen which made it even more special. We hope to post some pictures soon.
As always, we could not put on the event without the tremendous support of our partner students, who share the experience with the athletes. Thanks to them, and also to the coaches, event organizers, and athlete’s parents for getting them ready to play.
Once again we had a full house shooting basketballs at Nashoba Regional HS. New this year was our attendance at the State games.
Basketball sessions were held in the Winters of 2007, 2009 and 2010.
